The value of a tailored-based exercise program for improving Quality of Life in patients with hematologic malignancies: a pilot randomized trial

Project Overview
Advances in cancer treatments have increased survival in hematologic malignancies, making HRQoL a key priority.
Intensive therapies often cause physical decline, reduced muscle mass, and impaired function.
Although rest is still commonly advised, current guidelines strongly support physical activity.
Combined aerobic and resistance exercise improves physical function and quality of life.
This pilot randomized, controlled, multicenter study investigates the feasibility and potential benefits of a supervised, structured exercise program (Structured Exercise Program – SEP) in patients affected by hematologic malignancies.
Objectives
The primary objective is to evaluate feasibility of the intervention in terms of:
- Adherence, defined as the proportion of patients who complete the intervention
- Satisfaction, determined by the proportion of participants who report being at least somewhat satisfied with the intervention.
